Jewellery Care & Safety

Our memorial jewellery is crafted with care and is designed to be treasured for years to come. As with all jewellery, it is important to take care of your piece and follow the guidance below to help keep it looking its best.

General Jewellery Care

Please handle your jewellery with care. Although our pieces are made to be worn and enjoyed, they can be damaged by knocks, pressure, chemicals, moisture or excessive force.

We recommend:

  • Remove jewellery before bathing, showering or swimming.

  • Remove jewellery before exercising, gardening, cleaning or taking part in activities where it may be caught, knocked or subjected to pressure.

  • Remove your jewellery, including earrings before sleeping. Sleeping in earrings can cause them to become caught on bedding, clothing or hair, or put pressure on the ear and piercing. This can result in irritation, soreness, swelling or injury. Earrings should also be removed before showering, bathing, swimming, exercising or taking part in activities where they could become caught or pulled.

  • Avoid contact with perfumes, creams, lotions, hairspray, cleaning products and other chemicals.

  • Store your jewellery somewhere safe and dry when you are not wearing it.

  • Avoid dropping or knocking your jewellery against hard surfaces.

  • Do not pull, twist or apply excessive pressure to your jewellery.

Rings

Rings can be particularly susceptible to knocks and pressure during everyday activities. We recommend removing rings before sleeping, showering, bathing, swimming, exercising, cleaning and any activity where the ring may be caught or damaged.

Take particular care when wearing rings with raised settings or delicate features.

Pendants & Chains

Take care when putting on or removing pendants and chains. Avoid pulling or applying excessive force to the chain or pendant.

We recommend removing pendants before sleeping, showering, bathing, swimming and exercising.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

To keep your jewellery looking its best, gently wipe it with a soft, dry jewellery cloth, one is included with every order.

Do not use abrasive cloths, harsh chemicals, jewellery dips, polishing compounds or household cleaning products unless you have been specifically advised that they are suitable for your particular piece.

Handmade Jewellery

All Whispers in Time ashes stones are hand crafted, because of this, minor variations in colour, texture, shape and finish may occur and are part of the individual character of your piece.

If you are ever unsure about how to care for your jewellery, please contact Whispers in Time before using any cleaning product or attempting to alter or repair the piece.
